The attractions are only a few blocks from each other.

What is not so great?
The attractions are not well know (but worth a visit if you like Hollywood).
If you are really going to be a tourist, you may consider a Go Los Angeles Card that includes stuff like a California Science Center IMAX Movie, Los Angeles Zoo, Universal Studios and many more things to do.

How do you get your moneys worth?
Make sure you do the Starline tour as it costs $37 on it's own
